Savoie Snare Drums

My drum-building journey began with a New Year’s resolution: to build my own snare drum. At the time, I had no knowledge of drum construction—not even a starting point—but I knew one thing for certain: my life had just taken a new direction. And with that, Savoie Drums was born.

From the start, I was drawn to stave construction. I set my sights on building something inspired by the incredible block (stave) snare drums crafted by Brady. After researching online, I invested in a few essential tools and purchased my very first stave shell.

That first build was a 6×14 Padauk stave shell with Purpleheart diamond inlays. I outfitted it with chrome tube lugs, triple-flanged rims, a traditional throw-off, and Puresound snare wires. The result exceeded all expectations—in tone, quality, and playability—and from that moment on, I was hooked. My passion for drum building had officially taken root.

This video features some demo videos of different Snare Drum and Hi Hat combinations. I built all of the snare drums except for the Sleishman and Yamaha. The background tune is by the Mighty Imperials, “Cold Sweat.”
